INCOMPLETE  SONGS

To select words in order to make meaningful sentences to identify adjectives, verbs and nouns and their place in a sentence.

Materials
Transcripts of songs known to the whole class.
A set of yellow cards with nouns written on them.
A set of green cards with verbs written on them.
A set of cards with adjectives written on them.
Envelopes
LANGUAGE FOCUS

(nouns, verbs and adjectives)


Playing the Game
Type the lyrics of several songs on different sheets of paper, leaving nine blanks in each song (3nouns, 3 verbs and 3 adjectives)
Write the missing nouns on yellow cards, the missing verbs on green cards and the missing adjectives on red cards.
Put the songs and their missing words in different envelopes.
Divide class into groups and each group takes an envelope.
They have 4 minutes to complete the song with the missing words.
Once they have finished, each group sings their version of the song.
The group scores one point for every word correctly placed.
After three rounds, the group with the highest score is the winner.
